The objective of this article is to present a learning module and competency tool for the interpretation of laboratory values in the acute care setting. The module was created to help physical therapists understand the importance of recognizing abnormal values and determine whether activity is contraindicated or may continue with modifications. Methods for implementation, strengths and weaknesses of the competency assessment are presented.
