The diverse participants consisted of 25 persons with AIDS and 5 significant persons, included for contextual understanding. A federal Confidentiality Certificate and name changes protect their confidentiality. The basic nature of the 117 ethical problems consisted of conflict, resolution, and rationale. Ten content categories emerged: Alcohol/drugs, chronic illness, death, discrimination, finances/ business, health care, personhood, relationships, service, and sexuality. Sage Publications, Inc., published the research as a book, Living With AIDS: Experiencing Ethical Problems.
