| Sumario: | It is now recognised that neonatal intensive care can evoke strong stress responses in even the extremely preterm neonate. Nurses working in neonatal intensive care units are increasingly looking for creative ways to help parents and their newborn infants get through this difficult stage. 'Positive touch' is a medium for establishing a working relationship with the family, helping them with attachment and confidence. It is infant led and parent directed and its strength lies with implementation as an integral part of a Family Centred Developmental Care programme. |
