Nurses working in neonatal intensive care units are increasingly looking for creative ways to help parents and their newborn infants get through this difficult stage. 'Positive touch' is a medium for establishing a working relationship with the family, helping them with attachment and confidence. It is infant led and parent directed and its strength lies with implementation as an integral part of a Family Centred Developmental Care programme.
