| Sumario: | This qualitative descriptive single-case study described and interpreted student expressions of caring nursing during high-fidelity simulation (HFS), an alternative to traditional clinical learning. Three data sources included direct observations of students during an HFS scenario, dyad debriefings, and individual interviews. Thematic analysis yielded two distinct patterns: themes of caring, and themes of caring in the context of HFS. It was concluded that the nature and context of HFS present unique features that may challenge some nursing students to acclimate to the simulation environment. Recommendations addressed the need for intentional study of caring and for collaboration between educators and manufacturers of HFS. |
