Her recently submitted PhD dissertation, entitled "Hunters, wedding mothers, and androgynous priests: conceptualising gender among Bugis in South Sulawesi, Indonesia," was undertaken at the University of Western Australia. Barbara Heron is an assistant professor in the School of Social Work at the York University, Toronto, Canada. Amy Kaler is an assistant professor in the department of sociology at the University of Alberta.
