| Sumario: | Would digital immortality, i.e., residing immortally and permanently within a virtual world, be desirable? Laying out work previously done on both immortality and digital worlds, the paper shows how digital immortality can overcome Bernard Williams' boredom objection and disjointed-self objection to immortality by subscribing to H. P. Grice's theory of personal identity. Subsequently, the paper explores two issues: who will inhabit the virtual world and the problem of avatar creation. Analyzing these issues, the conclusion is that. although one may overcome Williams' objections, a plethora of arguably more difficult problems arise.
