| Sumario: | • Curvularia was recovered from a duodenoscope despite following the manufacturer's cleaning protocol. • Manufacturer duodenoscope disinfection protocols may be inadequate to remove mold. • The 2018 Food and Drug Administration/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sampling/culturing guide may be more robust than the 2015 version. • Voriconazole prophylaxis of potentially exposed patients was needed. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised protocols for surveillance sampling and cultures of duodenoscopes. We describe the recovery of the mold Curvularia from a duodenoscope processed according to the manufacturer's instructions using this revised sampling process. To our knowledge, this is the first time a mold has been recovered from a duodenoscope after following the Food and Drug Administration/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocol. This suggests that manufacturer's recommendation for scope reprocessing may be insufficient to adequately remove mold from these scopes. |
