Sumario:Introduction: The purpose of the study was to conduct a situational diagnosis on the organization and structure of a course in the virtual classroom for the public health area of an educational institution of higher education. Methodology: The type of study is descriptive exploratory, qualitative and quantitative. A self-conducted survey was conducted. Absolute frequency measurements were calculated with their respective graphs. Results: 90 surveys were conducted to determine the situational diagnosis, organization and structure of a course in the virtual classroom for the Public Health area in an educational institution. More women (78.9%) participated than men (21.1%), the ages with the highest proportion were 20 to 25 years with 76.7%. Although the platform is student friendly, facilitators need more process preparation in virtual environments and better synchronous communication channels. Conclusion: Develop an evaluation plan to know the organization and structure of a course in the virtual classroom, involves several processes in its planning, including knowing the technological platform, the tools provided by the facilitators should be simple, clear and simple for learners, taking into account that teaching in the light of new learning environments is a complex task if we review that the teaching and learning processes in a virtual environment maintain "the relationship of three elements: the constructivist mental activity of the student who learns, the sustained and continued help from the teacher, and the content that is the subject of teaching and learning" (Onrubia, 2005, Cited by Villar, 2008: 6).
