How to give a name to what is innaprehensible and nameless, which is above, below and beyond every name? What and who is the possibility to give any name? Boaventura would reply which takes place through negation, also means an express way for language to positively apprehend what the divine Being is for us: it is not possible to total God in thought, but it is possible to fully apprehend his existence through language. Based on numerous citations from Areopagita, that text concluded that incomprehensibility does not affect knowledge, since it does not make God alien to thought, being possible to positively say Deus sicut est. Going from the side of the essence (beyond which God is always), the negative predication sees in the name the dissolution of the Ineffable, so that the negations would be more true than the affirmations. A partir de Boaventura e Dionísio Areopagita este texto aborda e discute a questão da possibilidade de dar nome ao divino. Como dar nome ao que é incaptável e inominável, que está acima, aquém e além de todo nome? O que e quem é a possibilidade de dar qualquer nome. Boaventura responderia. que se realiza mediante a negação, significa também uma expressa forma de a linguagem apreender positivamente o que o Ser divino é para nós: não é possível totalizar Deus no pensamento, mas é possível apreender totalmente a sua existência por meio da linguagem. Tonando por base inúmeras citações do Areopagita, conclui-se que a incompreensibilidade não afecta o conhecimento, visto não tornar Deus estranho ao pensamento, sendo possível predicar positivamente Deus sicut est.
