| Sumario: | Pulmonary sequestration is a congenital lung malformation characterized by a segment of pulmonary tissue that does not communicate with the tracheobronchial tree or pulmonary arteries. When the separated segment is enveloped by its own pleura, it is referred to as an extralobar pulmonary sequestration (EPS). The vascular anatomy of EPS is variable, but typically drains into the systemic or pulmonary veins. We present an unusual case of EPS with venous drainage into the portal vein. Due to the atypical vascular anatomy, a virtual 3D display of the lesion was created to facilitate preoperative planning, a method not previously described in the workup of EPS. A printed 3D model was also used for patient teaching. The EPS was subsequently successfully resected via left thoracotomy. |
