| Sumario: | Postsecondary education (PSE) programs designed to support the needs of people with intellectual disabilities have grown over the past ten years. The purpose of this narrative literature review is to explore the specific role of the vocational rehabilitation (VR) counselor in supporting PSE for students with intellectual disabilities (ID) to (a) provide practical, evidence-supported recommendations for VR counselors to better serve this population; (b) identify gaps in the literature; and (c) refine and define additional research questions. An electronic database search was conducted and eight articles were found to meet the inclusion criteria outlined for this project. A list of 22 practice recommendations was developed. Recommendations for future practice are provided, including validation of current VR practices, development of collaborative partnerships, exploration of counselor bias, and educational changes in counselor preparation.
