Sumario:The purpose of this research is to investigate the attitudes of high school students towards ageism. The sample of this descriptive study consists of 291 high school students. The Ageism Attitude Scale (AAS) and the Student Information Form were used to collect data. Data were analyzed with SPSS for Mac 21 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program. In the analysis, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values, and percentages were calculated, and Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, and ANOVA tests were performed. The results showed that high school students generally have a positive attitude towards ageism, and there are significant differences between the Ageism Attitude Scale scores and the variables of students' gender, place of birth, place of residence, education level of parents, and place of residence of grandparents (p<0.05). It was found that there was no significant relationship between the variables of family type, mother's occupation, father's occupation, number of years lived with the elderly, number of siblings, and the Ageism Attitude Scale scores (p>0.05). Adolescents' attitudes and the factors that determine these attitudes are important in understanding the perception of aging as a longitudinal phenomenon. It is thought that the attitudes of high school students studying in the city of Malatya, which has experienced urbanization with modern and traditional elements, towards ageism are an important representation.
