| Sumario: | Background: Social determinants of health, biological, genetic and environmental factors contribute to disparate outcomes for women of color breast cancer survivors. Objective: The purpose of this paper is to describe a Community Engaged Project that addressed unmet informational needs through education and sharing and a collaborative process to build trust and problem solve toward a goal of improved breast cancer survivorship for women of color. Methods: An academic-community partnership was created with an advisory leadership group which led to four annual educational and interactive community partnership meetings. Findings: Participants (range 25-58 participants per meeting) reported high quality for educational presentations (81%-93%) and rated interactive sessions as excellent/very good (71%). The meetings were effective in stimulating ideas (71%), met the objective of connecting survivors (77%), identified strategies to overcome barriers to patient-centered survivorship care and recommendations to improve care and provided direction for research. |
