Therefore, the jurists and mujtahids began to exert exceptional efforts in studying and scrutinizing the hadith according to the peremptory legal and mental rules, in order to distinguish the wheat from the fat, and the correct from the weak. Accordingly, it is natural for the jurists to differ according to their different invocations of the legal texts in documenting and weakening the hadith, just as they differed in documenting and weakening its men.
