| Sumario: | The strategic warning function within the U.S. intelligence community (IC) has experienced cycles of priority. It is now in one of its periodic troughs. But the intelligence world is changing as global threats grow and technologies evolve, meaning new warning-related capacities concerning cyber intelligence, foreign malign influence operations, and counterintelligence are needed. Traditional warning-related skills, including deception and counter-deception, need to be rebuilt. The IC requires a new warning-related structure to better integrate traditional warning skills with ones warning analysts have never before possessed. Resurrection of the position of national intelligence officer for warning would be a good start.
