      ab: Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing health care, and understanding how nursing students and faculty perceive and use AI is crucial for developing effective educational guidelines. Method: A pilot survey examined AI usage patterns, perceptions, and concerns among nursing students (n = 220) and faculty (n = 26). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis. Results: Faculty reported significantly higher AI usage than students (27 vs. 12 times/semester, p =.007) and perceived greater importance of AI in future careers (p =.002). Although 77% of faculty addressed AI in courses, 33% of students remained uncertain about permitted uses. Academic misconduct concerns were the primary barrier to student AI adoption (73%). Conclusion: This study suggests a dual approach is needed to develop AI competencies when implementing structured frameworks that integrate AI tools into curricula while preserving critical thinking and preparing students for AI-enhanced environments.
