| Sumario: | The article focuses on evaluating a novel adjustable stiffness ankle foot orthosis (a-AFO) designed for individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) to enhance walking performance and daily living tasks. In a study involving 11 participants aged 11 to 40, the a-AFO was compared to a traditional solid AFO (s-AFO) and no assistive device during various tasks. Results indicated that the a-AFO significantly improved ankle push-off power and kinematics while reducing muscle activity, suggesting its potential to enhance performance in daily activities. The findings highlight the importance of tailoring AFO designs to meet individual needs and task demands. |
