Sumario:The article focuses on the physiological effects of dual-task (DT) versus single-task (ST) patrols on soldiers carrying heavy loads. A study involving nine adults assessed how performing a cognitive task while walking with a 30 kg load impacted various respiratory parameters. Results indicated that the DT condition resulted in higher relative oxygen consumption and respiratory rate, but lower tidal volume, while heart rate was higher in the ST condition. Overall, the findings suggest that while DT marching led to statistically significant changes in respiratory parameters, these effects were small and may not have practical implications for soldiers during 60-minute patrols, warranting further investigation over longer durations.
