Results indicated that the DT condition resulted in higher relative oxygen consumption and respiratory rate, but lower tidal volume, while heart rate was higher in the ST condition. Overall, the findings suggest that while DT marching led to statistically significant changes in respiratory parameters, these effects were small and may not have practical implications for soldiers during 60-minute patrols, warranting further investigation over longer durations.
