| Sumario: | Persian Sufi poetry has significantly contributed to the development of Persian poetry. ʿAṭṭār is one of the three major Persian Sufi poets, and his influence has been substantial. His poetry is crucial in examining the spread of Sufi and Persian poetry in the Persianate world. However, many spurious texts exist, and the question of the authenticity of ʿAṭṭār's texts remains controversial to this day. To address the challenges associated with verifying the authenticity of Persian Sufi poetry, this study proposes a statistical and objective analytical approach. This approach combines frequency, principal component, and hierarchical cluster analyses to quantitatively visualize the differences between authentic and spurious texts. This method allows authenticity judgements based on objective numerical evidence. The effectiveness of this methodology is demonstrated through its application to ʿAṭṭār's poetry collection, with clear distinctions between authentic and spurious texts confirmed both visually and quantitatively. This methodological framework provides a new approach to authenticating Persian poetry and universal method for determining the authenticity of classical poetic works.
