| Sumario: | A reconsideration of both well-known documents and others more recently found has shed new light on the figure of architect Benedetto Alfieri and his most important work, the Reggio Teatro in Turin. The research has made it possible to better understand the depth and richness of Alfieri's educational and professional background, which fully explains the assignment of such a significant commission: the design of the most important theater in 18th-century Turin. The study also highlights the formative and professional influence of a military engineer, Giuseppe Ludovico Nicolis di Robilant, on Alfieri. Robilant was responsible for the theatre's technological aspects - optics and acoustics - which complemented Alfieri's compositional design for the Reggio Teatro. As the gathered documentation demonstrates, the two professionals perfectly complemented each other in their work, each contributing with their expertise.
