Among the texts discussed are Gregorio Mayans y Siscar's Idea de un Diccionario Universal, ejecutado en la Jurisprudencia Civil and Antonio Xavier Pérez y López's Teatro de la Legislación Universal de España e Indias. Este artículo es sobre memorias recolectadas y sus representaciones del pasado, y más específicamente representaciones basadas en antiguas costumbres, usos y leyes españolas, al margen del legado romano, que luego fueron desplegadas para reforzar los privilegios "históricos" del rey. Surge la pregunta de si ese pasado fue reconstruido objetivamente a raíz de descubrimientos nuevos. ¿O fueron las actitudes a priori las que demandaron un pasado específico?
