| Sumario: | This article explores the circulation of literary ideas facilitated by the Gothic mode in La pista de hielo, while considering the totality of Roberto Bolaño's production. Through the analysis of this corpus, the article proposes a critical reflection on the concepts of "Latin American Gothic" and "globalgothic" and their complex relationship with the postcolonial dynamic of tropicalization. Similarly, I argue that the novel performs a de-hierarchization akin to popular culture: by centering doubly marginalized territories, both in social terms and in literary studies, it disputes – from these margins – the polemics consecrated by the studia humanitatis. This contributes to the comic tone that is particularly noticeable amidst the traditional scenarios of horror. Methodologically, I alternate between internal and external analyses of the text to examine the configuration of Gothic space-times on both levels.
