Summary:	The article presents a reprint of the article "Making the secondary science program function," by Victor C. Smith, which appeared in the November, 1944-January, 1945 issue of "Secondary Education." It comments on the secondary science program in the United States. The article suggests that it is imperative not only for science teachers, but for all adults interested in modern education, to examine the failure of the traditional science program and to consider how the needs of the adolescent child may better be met by improving science instruction.
