Se analiza la evolución y el uso de este término en la literatura latina, destacando la crítica de Quevedo a las traducciones de Scaliger y la propuesta de Munckerus de la forma "majesto". La autora explora la relación de "maiestus" con otros términos latinos y su posible significado, así como su presencia en diccionarios y ediciones posteriores. Se concluye que, aunque no hay certeza absoluta sobre su uso, la existencia del adjetivo en la lengua latina está respaldada por la obra de estos filólogos.
