| Sumario: | This article discusses the need for developmental reading program in high school education. Any attempts to develop a program for the improvement of reading in high school is faced with some problems not usually found at the elementary level. The most serious of these is an apathetic faculty attitude. Another problem which is much more acute at the secondary than at the elementary level is that of suitable materials. High school teachers complain that they are not trained to teach reading. It might be argued that before any program is attempted, the faculty should undertake a period of orientation. |
