In basic education, although the activities of interpreting, understanding and summarizing texts are very present in the teaching of the most diverse school subjects, students, when entering the university environment, face challenges to fully comply with the particularities of these practices under a new production situation. The objective of this work is to analyze, based on studies of Textual Linguistics, thirty-seven productions of the academic summary genre by students of the Interdisciplinary Higher Education Program (ProFIS) of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), in the context of the discipline Reading and Production of Academic Texts I. The results demonstrate the process of appropriation of knowledge related, in this case, to the compositional structure and retextualization to fulfill the purpose of the academic summary. These results demand reflection on the teaching of literacies characteristic of academia, especially with regard to the adaptation of new students to the required textual practices. No ensino superior, o resumo, ou abstract, costuma ser compreendido como gênero de divulgação científica que trata do conteúdo e da estrutura de um determinado texto-fonte em um parágrafo curto (Motta-Roth e Hendges, 2010). Na educação básica, embora as atividades de interpretação, compreensão e sumarização de textos estejam muito presentes no ensino das mais diferentes disciplinas escolares, os discentes, ao ingressarem no ambiente universitário, enfrentam desafios para cumprir plenamente as particularidades dessas práticas sob uma nova situação de produção. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar, a partir dos estudos da Linguística Textual, trinta e sete produções do gênero resumo acadêmico por estudantes do Programa de Formação Interdisciplinar Superior (ProFIS) da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), no contexto da disciplina Leitura e Produção de Textos Acadêmicos I. Os resultados evidenciam os processos de apropriação dos saberes relacionados, nesse caso, à estrutura composicional e à retextualização para desempenhar o propósito do resumo acadêmico.
