| Sumario: | If it is true that the only livable trans+ future is in an indistinguishable elsewhere, then trans+ media—especially media meant for cis audiences—must have a strong vision to bring that future into the present. This research uses HBO's show Euphoria (2019–) as an example of possibilities beyond representation, grounded in the material conditions of being trans+. Utilizing a critical media industries framework as my dominant methodology, I center a nonhierarchical knowledge structure, valuing personal experience alongside traditional theory. These shifts in value sets make it possible for care to enter in at both the level of analysis and the level of reception. If trans+ images are to aid in the larger fight for trans+ liberation, they must materially care for the trans+ artists and more deeply understand the material roots of the systems of power trans+ people interact with daily.
