| Sumario: | This article examines the extent to which author Stefan Zweig was and still is made available to the English-speaking public. As of 1987, Zweig has been translated into 55 languages, dominated mainly by Portuguese Spanish, Russian, French and English. The peculiar thing about his works is that, out of the estimated 200 poems he wrote, less than 8% was translated in English. One can only assume that the increased focus on the natural and social sciences in the U.S. may be one cause of the detriment of the humanities. |
