Sumario:This study examines the career expectations of Generation Z in the field of information technology (IT) and the factors shaping these expectations through a qualitative approach. Growing up in close interaction with technology, this generation finds the IT sector appealing due to its financial benefits, flexible working conditions, and opportunities for innovation. The study was conducted using a phenomenological research design with 17 students from Mehmet Akif Ersoy University's Software Engineering Department. Data were collected through structured interviews and analyzed using content analysis methods. The findings reveal that personal interest and financial incentives significantly influence the career choices of Generation Z. Many young individuals are drawn to the IT field due to their passion for coding and software development. While the private sector is preferred for its dynamic work environments and high salary prospects, the public sector appeals to some for its structured working conditions. Additionally, the desire to work abroad stems from better living standards, advanced career opportunities, and the chance to interact with diverse cultures. This generation, which seeks flexibility, freedom to make decisions, and non-monotonous work in their professional lives, expects transparent promotion processes and remuneration systems that include additional benefits. This study provides valuable insights for educational institutions and employers to develop strategies that meet the expectations of Generation Z and create suitable working environments to attract this generation.
