Considering the four previous courses— Security, Territory, Population (1977-1978), The Birth of Biopolitics (1978-1979), On the Government of the Living (1979-1980), and Subjectivity and Truth (1980-1981)—it is evident that The Hermeneutics of the Subject (1981-1982) aligns with the same issues of governmentality. Subject and hermeneutics have been central to Foucault’s philosophy since the 1950s. For him, the care of the self does not represent a salvific instance of the subject but situates the relationship between power, truth, and the subject within a more complex web than what he had considered in his most influential works of the 1970s. A partir do curso A hermenêutica do sujeito, de Michel Foucault, o presente texto analisa a temática do cuidado de si situando-o no âmbito das tecnologias do governo, na abordagem arqueológica e genealógica. Considerando-se os quatro últimos cursos anteriores, Segurança, território, população (1977-1978), Nascimento da biopolítica (1978-1979), Do governo dos vivos (1979- 1980) e Subjetividade e verdade (1980- 1981), verifica-se que A hermenêutica do sujeito (1981-1982) se inscreve na mesma problemática da governamentalidade. Sujeito e hermenêutica percorrem a filosofia de Foucault desde a década de 1950.
