| Sumario: | Embedding a trauma-informed approach (TIA) in occupational therapy programs can cultivate a more supportive academic environment. This cross-sectional research study examined if and how TIA is used in OT and OTA programs across the United States. One hundred three faculty members provided ratings through the Trauma-Informed Approach in Higher Education Questionnaire, a recently validated tool. Most respondents acknowledged the value of TIA. However, they also reported having insufficient training and inconsistent implementation at the department and classroom levels. These findings highlight the need for professional development and program support to encourage broader adoption of TIA as a foundational element of OT and OTA education. |
