Drawing on the study programs offered by the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Politehnica University Timișoara, the paper emphasizes methodological foundations, pedagogical approaches, practical components, and teaching methods. It also aims to present the research areas and academic projects carried out over more than three decades of activity. Particular attention is paid to the knowledge, competences, and skills required of future translators and interpreters, as well as to their professional development and social responsibilities in an increasingly globalized world profoundly influenced by the development of artificial intelligence. In this context, the paper also addresses the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence-based tools on the translation and interpreting professions, highlighting the need to adapt professional competences to the new realities of the field.
