Sumario:The article focuses on the science program for a group of educable mentally retarded boys in Danville, Illinois. The group of boys in the class ranged in chronological age from 13 to 16 but their mental ages ranged from about eight to eleven. The mastery of facts can be accomplished if they are presented in a way that is real and understandable to the child. The boys were given projects which offered opportunities for them to study their environment. The whole project was based on three points which are meeting the immediate needs and interests of the individual, providing a variety of manipulative experience through which the individual can achieve success and gain confidence and broadening the student's concept of the world.
