| Sumario: | This article discusses the process of hierarchical task analysis as it relates to the setting of instructional goals and objectives. Hierarchical task analysis is distinct from discrete task analysis: Whereas discrete task analysis is a tool used to specify how instruction is to be carried out, hierarchical analysis is a tool used to decide what to teach and when to teach it. The process of doing a hierarchical analysis is essentially one of the analysis of behavioral prerequisites to goals. This article demonstrates how the process is carried out using an existing analysis of the teaching of English as an example. |
