Sumario:The article criticizes a research study addressing issues on the formal operational schemata of variable relations that were published in other literature in education in the U.S. The author asserts that research at the formal stage needs to include adequate numbers of subjects at the upper limits of the stage including subjects who have not developed formal operational ability and those subjects who have abilities already in the developing stage. To assess the contrast of opinion about the issue, this article reports a research project that aims to perform similar analyses on data extracted from another study.
