| Sumario: | The article reflects on the curriculum evaluation of an elementary social science education program at the Industrial Relations Center of the University of Chicago, Illinois. It reviews the fourth-grade program (Economics 1) and the fifth-grade program (Economics 11) which principal objective was to develop understanding of the economic processes of consumption and production. The concept of consumption focuses on the topics of wants, work, money, and consumption and savings. It also presents an evaluation of the program which evaluates if the students learn the important economic ideas and if these ideas are remembered for a significant length of time.
