Sumario:The article focuses on decision making by large networks. The author describes a hastily-formed network (HFN), which is set up in emergency situations such as natural disasters. The example that is used in the article is the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) organizational structure that was formed to respond to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The article discusses how the Internet facilitates the formation of HFN; however, the advent of the Internet requires new management structures that emphasize decentralized decision making.
