| Sumario: | The article provides information about TerraMax, an autonomous vehicle developed by Vision and Intelligent System Lab of the University of Parma, Italy, Oshkosh Truck Corp. and Rockwell Collins Inc. in the U.S. TerraMax was part of the 2005 Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DAPRA) Grand Challenge. It was based on Oshkosh's Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement defense truck platform. It uses artificial vision, laser scanners, generalized processor sharing, inertial sensors, and map databases. The 3 camera system of TerraMax allows precision and efficient computation of viewing distances which relies on a 2-step approach for full 3-dimension stereo reconstruction.
