| Sumario: | The article reports the new aromatic π systems, Pentaindenocorannulene and Tetraindenocorannulene. The procedures in the syntheses of the two new geodesic polyarenes are the same except in their starting organic compounds. The X-ray crystal structures and the degree of pyramidization were also examined. It was concluded that solution chemical methods can synthesize carbon-rich molecules. The use of density functional theory to calculate geometries for geodesic polyarenes is recommended. |
