The misuse of information services (IS) can cause financial losses, negative publicity, and a decrease in customer confidence. Guidelines for IS usage, biometric controls and monitoring software can prevent IS misuse. A study utilizing surveys of employees suggests that they are most aware of security policies despite their limited ability to prevent IS misuse.
