Dependent variables were attitudes toward rape and empathy for rape survivors and independent variables were prior knowledge or experience as a rape survivor, having female siblings, gender, marital status, and age. Analysis of variance found both prior experience as a rape survivor (p<.05), and gender (p<.05) to be significantly related to rape intolerant attitudes and empathy toward rape survivors. Rape intolerant attitudes and lower level of empathy were more commonly found among men and those with no personal experience with rape. pubtype: Academic Journal doctype: Article src: R language: English refInfo: copyright: @attributes: flag: Y custom: Copyright of College Student Journal is the property of Project Innovation Austin LLC and its content may not be copied or emailed to multiple sites without the copyright holder's express written permission.
