Sumario:The article discusses kinetic organic interfaces (KOI). Motion as a medium of communication has traditionally been confined to television, motion picture, and computer displays. A KOI is a real, shape-changing object that conveys information by means of speed, direction, and range of motion. Examples include configurable physical controls, ambient displays, and displays that can assume different forms in response to user input. Design considerations for KOIs are also discussed, these including such matters as what materials a KOI should incorporate.
