Summary:The article presents a study that asserts the human-induced environmental impact on Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia. According to the authors, based on the past research initiatives the island depict a long-term developmental pattern of arboricultural economies with abundant native vegetation. The study reveals that the island depict a direct and diachronic evidence of vegetation patterns wherein the spatial and temporal of its valleys manifest the existence of pre-contact economy and settlement pattern as well as breadfruit-centered arboriculture. In addition, the author notes that the findings of their study allow them to pinpoint the islands issues in economic development and changes as well as the reliance of arboriculture on ethnographic studies.
