| Sumario: | The article presents an exploration into the parallels between the ideologies of social science research and dramatic acting. The author presents discussion based off of the acting methodology lessons of the Russian Academy for Theatrical Arts and highlights their sociological and ethnographic elements. Concepts such as empathy and sympathy, the role of space and time in the challenge of interpretation, and the dangers of caricature are addressed. Case examples are given regarding the Russian historical investigation into their Soviet past and criticism is offered against overly stereotypical depiction of its history.
