Sumario:The rapid movement toward the use of palm and handheld devices for communication makes it likely that these particular technologies will play an important role in advancing teacher and student science experiences in the near future. The major purpose of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of the use of sensor probeware technology and guided inquiry in teaching and learning of sciences. To achieve this goal, six in-service science teachers and their 38 students participated in this study during a summer camp in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Science teachers were trained as part of this study to use the sensor probeware technology and guided-inquiry instruction to investigate water quality. Then each group of students investigated water quality at different locations. Qualitative as well as quantitative data were collected from teachers and students. Results indicated that students and teachers had benefited from the use of sensor probeware technology (t- test 13.784 p<.000). Participants showed great interest in conducting science guided-inquiry activities and using the sensor probes.
