| Sumario: | The 1994 American City & County computer survey found that the majority of responding city and county officials were either in the process of purchasing new technology or were planning purchases in the near future. Survey respondents from all areas were planning computer hardware and software purchases, with 61.6 percent reporting plans to purchase hardware and 64.7 percent planning to purchase software. The computer operating systems in use were Microsoft DOS/Windows, UNIX, OS/2, and Macintosh. Some 30.8 percent of responding administration officials expressed an interest in updating or enhancing their accounting/payroll system. Of the finance officials who responded, 15.4 percent chose database management as the most wanted type of software. Twenty-eight percent of water treatment officials chose maintenance and scheduling systems as the software that they most wished to purchase.
