Survey respondents from all areas were planning computer hardware and software purchases, with 61.6 percent reporting plans to purchase hardware and 64.7 percent planning to purchase software. The computer operating systems in use were Microsoft DOS/Windows, UNIX, OS/2, and Macintosh. Some 30.8 percent of responding administration officials expressed an interest in updating or enhancing their accounting/payroll system. Of the finance officials who responded, 15.4 percent chose database management as the most wanted type of software.
