Telecommuters are generally 20 percent more productive, and the positions attract skilled job candidates. Businesses also benefit from the greater staffing flexibility and cost control and from reduced office space requirements. Employees benefit from fewer interruptions, a greater sense of control, a more flexible schedule, improved communications at work and at home, and savings on food, clothes, and transportation. Characteristics of jobs that are conducive to telecommuting are described, and 25 prime telecommuting jobs are listed.
